Colonel Bree Fram uses her story, and the sweep of American history, to discuss why an inclusive military is critical to national security today and far into the future. She also provides insight into the contemporary issues faced by transgender troops in the current administration.
Bree Fram is an astronautical engineer, author, podcaster, and active duty colonel in the United States Space Force. She is currently stationed at the Pentagon where she develops the requirements for future Space Force capabilities. Bree came out publicly as transgender on the day the transgender ban in the military was dropped in 2016. She transitioned while in a command position and is currently one of the highest ranking out transgender officers in the United States military.
She is one of the editors of the book, With Valor and Visibility, which features a collection of forty-seven accounts from transgender servicepeople and veterans offering their experiences being transgender in the military. There will be a book signing following the program; books are for sale through our website and will be available at the event.
The evening will begin with a small reception at 5:30 PM, followed by the lecture, Q&A, and book signing starting at 6:00 PM.
REMINDER: This program is hosted in partnership with the Evanston History Center, located at 225 Greenwood Street, Evanston, IL 60201.
